CHIANG MAI 3 DAYS/2 NIGHTS
DAY 1: CHIANG MAI - ARRIVAL (D)
Arrive in Chiang Mai, meet and transfer to hotel for check-in.
City tour to include the old and new Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh,
Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Chiang Man and have a "Monk Chat"
at Wat
Suan Dok in a room inside the temple for this purpose (or at Wat
Chedi Luang under the tamarind trees) with some monks. Visit the
Warorot Market beside the Ping River for an idea of the local
produce
farmed in northern Thailand. Visit the Sankamphaeng craft
industries
to see teakwood carving, celadon-firing, silk and cotton
weaving,
lacquer ware and the paper-umbrella village of Bor Sang.
Dinner of northern and central Thai cuisine at Tha Nam Restaurant by the Ping River. Free to
stroll in the very interesting Night Bazaar where there are lots of handicrafts, fake
brand goods, snack shops, coffee cafes, money-exchange booths in hundreds of stalls on
both
sides of the road offering a wide range of products to the tourists.
Overnight at Royal Lanna Hotel / Rydges Amora Tapae Hotel / Duangtawan Hotel, Chiang Mai.
DAY 2: CHIANG MAI (B,L,D)
Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
Morning full-day tour to an
elephant camp to interact with elephants. Pick up at hotel at about 8.30am. You can get to ride on one at a nominal price paid directly to the
mahout. Have lunch at the riverside
restaurant. Take a trip up Doi Suthep to see the Wat Prathat Mountain Monastery
with its naga-lined stairway and golden chedi at its centre. On a clear day you can see Chiang Mai city below. There is a small "museum" on the
grounds housing Lanna-style Buddha statues and amulets. Be sure to ring all the bells surrounding
the main chedi for merit and good luck.
Dinner at Heuan Phen Restaurant of typically northern Thai food.
Overnight at Royal Lanna Hotel / Rydges Amora Tapae Hotel / Duangtawan Hotel, Chiang Mai.
DAY 3: CHIANG MAI - DEPARTURE (B)
Buffet breakfast at the
hotel. Free until time to transfer to
the airport for your departure flight.
