TREKKING IN CHIANG MAI - 1, 2 and 3days

1) One-Day Trek in the Mae Taeng Area - White Water Rafing, Elephant Riding & Trekking to hill tribe villages + Lunch

At 8.30am we leave from your Chiang Mai hotel to drive for an hour to a Lisu village.  The women of this tribe wear red shawls over their blue, black and green dresses.  We can look around the village without disturbing the villagers.  From here we drive for another 30 minutes to an elephant camp to go on a one-hour elephant safari with Karen mahouts and a trek of half-an-hour ending up at a waterfall where we will have lunch.  It is then another one hour of trek through lovely jungle to a rafting camp.  Here is where your white-water rafting thrill will begin.  We shoot the rapids down the Mae Taeng River for about an hour in rubber boats to where our transport awaits us.  The last activity would be a visit to an Akha village to see how the poorest of the hill tribes live.  By 6pm we arrive back in Chiang Mai.

Price Per Person (min. 2 pax): JPY 6800.

2) Two-Day Trek in the Mae Taeng Area + Lunch

This is still an exclusive trek to a relatively remote area in Mae Taeng.  We leave your Chiang Mai hotel at 9.30am to drive 40 minutes to a local market to buy food and then proceed for another hour to the starting point of the trek.  This is a Karen hill tribe village where we will have lunch.  The Karens are known for their expert handling of elephants.  Many earn a living by being mahouts.  We go on a one-hour elephant ride into the jungle with them.  They will leave us at a trail which leads to a Lahu hill tribe village through lovely countryside surrounded by low hills, rushing streams and lolling valleys.  We trek for about three hours to this Lahu village to stay overnight in a mountain hut.  There is time in the evening to observe the men returning from their plots and the women hewing water and cooking the evening meal while the children play in the compound.  Your guide will prepare your dinner for you.  Then it's bedtime in this Lahu village.
At cock-crow the next morning the village stirs and fires are lit for the first meal of the day.  Your breakfast will be ready by the time you wash up.  As the mist disperses we are on our 2-hour trek to a waterfall where we relax and enjoy a swim.  From here it's another half-an-hour trek to a rafting camp where we will have a nice lunch.  You will experience a one-hour exciting white-water rafting along the Mae Taeng River.  Then for expedient sake we change to a bamboo raft to cruise gently downriver for about 40 minutes to where our transport waits.  Our final visit is to an Akha village before returning to Chiang Mai, arriving at about 5pm.

Price Per Person (min. 2 pax):  JPY 6900.
